Real World Self Defense Training
Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art that was specifically created for use in the street; a place where rules do not exist. The self defense techniques are designed to be used by everyone regardless of size, strength, fitness ability or gender. Students train with the understanding that in an attack situation, they may be confronted by multiple attackers, including those who may be armed.
Krav Maga techniques utilize strikes to vulnerable targets – such as the groin, eyes and throat. Defenses against multiple attackers and attackers using weapons are taught, and sparring is an important aspect of our training. Physical fitness, self confidence and strength are all increased through committed training.
At Englewood Krav Maga our classes are designed to teach not only the defensive techniques that one may use if they are put in a dangerous situation, but we also teach our students how to be aware of their environment, and more importantly, to be able to recognize when and how to remove themselves from a bad or uncomfortable situation before they need to become physical.

Krav Maga Training for Women
The understanding in our art is that the only way to stop an assailant is with the use of force, but students are taught not to use strength against strength, training with the understanding that an attacker will likely always be larger and stronger than the defender. This principle is particularly pertinent for women.
Krav Maga techniques teach strikes to vulnerable targets; places on the body that can not be strengthened but can be easily damaged such as the throat, eyes and groin. Practitioners are taught to move from being passive as a defender to becoming an aggressor as quickly as possible. Defense without immediate offense does not exist in Krav Maga.
We teach strikes which utilize the parts of the body that are best used as weapons, including kicks, elbows, knees, and punches.
These concepts ensure that smaller individuals are capable of effectively defending themselves in an attack; focusing the strength that exists into the actual strike used.

Krav Maga Training for Kids
We provide classes for children as young as three that focus on building concentration, listening skills, discipline and physical fitness. Our classes for children ages six through fourteen cover all of the same self-defense techniques as adult Krav Maga classes but at a more kid-friendly pace.
As children learn Krav Maga they gain a high level of discipline, respect for self and others, the ability to focus and the self-confidence to act. Often parents comment on the changes that they see in their children – particularly in how it affects their school work and behavior with other kids. Our students are taught when, and under what circumstances they are allowed to use what they learn in our classes and on whom – practicing techniques on siblings or friends is never acceptable.
